The fourth annual Bladen County Aim for a Cure ALS Archery Shoot in honor of Steven Davis will be held Saturday, April 4, 2020. The event will be held at Allen Brothers Hunting Preserve.
Avery Goldman, Community Development Manager with the ALS Association North Carolina Chapter released a statement of support for Bladen County Aim for a Cure. He said, “The support they provide enables the NC Chapter to provide care services to the people and families battling ALS across North Carolina and to fund research into effective treatments and a cure for this disease.”

The Bladen County AIM for a Cure founders are Alex Daniel and Sandra Robbins. Robbins is also the founder for Steven’s Stompers, an ALS awareness and fundraising team, in honor of her brother, Steven Davis. He was diagnosed with ALS on April 30, 2012.
The organizers announced this year there will be a raffle. One of the prizes will be a NC Wildlife Resources Commission Lifetime Sportsman’s Unified license, which will include a saltwater licese. The maximum value of the prize is $716, according to their announcement.
Southern Son Designs LLC will be making a bow box for the event as well.

ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The disease causes the victim to have stiff muscles, muscle twitching and gradual worsening weakness. The victim may also have difficulty chewing, swallowing and eventually, breathing, according to reports. The disease is named for 1939 New York Yankees baseball player Lou Gehrig and was also the diagnosis for Stephen Hawking.
