June Adoption SpecialIf you are thinking of adding a dog or cat to your home, why not check out the Bladen County Animal Shelter. The Bladen County Animal Shelter will have an adoption special for the month of June.

The adoption fee is $25 for dogs over the age of 6 months and $15 for cats 6 months old or older. Shelter Manager Karen Suggs said that the fee includes the pet’s core shots and a rabies vaccination.  Folks who are planning to adopt a new pet will need to bring their photo identification with them and the required adoption fee.

“We normally try to run a special during June,” said Suggs.

The special does not apply to puppies or kittens under the age of 6 months old.

Suggs said the idea of the special is to call attention to the older dogs and cats who are in the shelter as well. She said the adult dogs and cats are sometimes overlooked in favor of the puppies or kittens.

Suggs said that the shelter will provide the new pet owner with a slip lead for dogs or a box similar to a carrier for cats to help them safely transport their new friend to their forever home.
