The Bladen County Board of Education has met twice this month. The elected officials held a retreat on Monday, October 4, at 5:30 PM, to discuss the strategic planning process.

On Monday, October 11, 2021, the Board discussed various topics and covered action items. Bladen County Schools’ counselors continued to raise their concerns to the Board about the lack of services Bladen County students are receiving.

There was a Maintenance Update from Mr. Worley, a Review of Accountability Data (2020-21 School Year) presented by Dr. Anthony Hinson, and a Mako COVID-19 Testing in Schools presentation by Nurse Lanier.

Consent items were approved, one of which included a Parent and Family Engagement Plan.

The Board members also approved a $1000 stipend to be paid to all full-time Bladen County Schools staff members, pending NCDPI approval.

The meetings were held at the Bladen County Schools District office located on Highway 701 in Elizabethtown. However, both the retreat and the regularly scheduled board meeting were live-streamed on a YouTube channel named Bladen Livestream due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
