With the federal government shutdown continuing with no apparent end in sight, some federal workers are becoming concerned about their lack of income and how they will continue to pay their bills. Some federal workers have taken jobs such as substitute teaching to tide them over until the shut down ends.

With many federal workers feeling the budget crunch at home, one Bladen County business is trying to do their part to help local federal government employees.

“We want to help our local federal government employees during this shutdown,” Daine Smith, owner of Cape Fear Heating & Cooling, LLC said.

“Federal government employees out of work, who live in Bladen County, may contact us at 910-647-0221 and they will receive a free $100 gift certificate to a local grocery store.”

The offer will stand until the government starts operating again.
