Due to inclement weather associated with Hurricane Matthew, all branches of the Bladen County Public Library will be closed on Saturday, October 8. We will reopen on Monday, October 10.

Southeastern Carolina Crossroads Barbecue Plate Sale
The barbecue plate sale to support Southeastern Carolina Crossroads scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 8, at 4 p.m. at the Bladenboro Historical Building has been postponed until Saturday, Oct. 15. Cost is $ 7 per plate eat in or take out. Wide variety of delicious homemade cakes will also be offered for sale. Tickets that have already been purchased for this event will be honored on Oct. 15. All proceeds go to benefit Southeastern Carolina Crossroads. Come out and support this worthy cause.

Moores Creek National Battlefield To Close in Advance of Hurricane Matthew
Superintendent Ricardo Perez has announced that due to the incoming Hurricane Matthew that is projected to make landfall in the general vicinity in the coming days, and with the projection for many inches of rain that could cause flooding on the rural roads surrounding the park, Moores Creek National Battlefield will be closed Friday, Oct. 7, through Monday, Oct. 10. Monday is a Federal holiday and the park is closed on all Federal holidays. The park will be open Thursday, Oct. 6, but the Visitor Center will close at noon to allow for time to prep for protecting resources and exhibits. A determination will be made about park operations for Tuesday, Oct. 11, pending a thorough investigation of the safety of the park.

Ultimate Super Late Model race at Dublin Motor Speedway postponed
The Ultimate Super Lake Model Series race scheduled this weekend at Dublin Motor Speedway has been postponed because of weather-related concerns, it was announced Wednesday. The series also said that it was discussing with DMS promoter Richard Bailey if the race can be rescheduled.

With the probability of Hurricane Matthew encroaching Bladen County late Friday and into Saturday, all Bladen County Schools will be closed on Friday, October 7 for students and staff.
