The Bladen County Board of County Commissioners has several items to consider with two public hearings scheduled at their next meeting. Maria Edwards, Clerk to the Board/Assistant to the County Manager, released an Agenda for the July 12, 2021 Board of Commissioners’ meeting. 

On the Agenda, nine-county employees will be recognized for their years of service. The retirements of Elizabeth Blanks and Susan Daniel will be recognized as well. 

Rusty Worley with Bladen County Schools will present a North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Facility Needs Survey for Bladen County Schools Long Range Plan. The commission will be asked to review the survey and approve its contents. 

There will be two public hearings. There will be a public hearing to consider Amending the Bladen County Zoning Ordinance to comply with the N.C.G.S. 160D updates. The 160D updates are to be effective by July 1, 2021 to comply with state statutes.  Also, there will be a hearing on approving repealing Chapter 29, Manufactured Homes and Trailers; Chapter 41, Signs; Chapter 47, Subdivisions; and Chapter 53, Telecommunications; and Incorporating North Carolina General Statute 160D into Bladen County Code of Zoning Ordinances. All interested citizens are invited to attend the hearings and present comments on the above petitions.

Lisa Coleman with the County of Bladen Finance Department will provide the Financial Dashboard for the Twelve-Month Period Ending June 30, 2021.

The commission will go into a Water Board of Directors session to consider adopting a resolution providing for the Issuance of $4,997,000 Water System Revenue Bond, Series 2021 of the Bladen County Water District.

The Bladen County Health and Human Services will also present information, and the Commissioners will consider advisory board appointments.

Before adjourning, the commission will consider approving an agreement with Bladen’s Bloomin’ Agri-Industrial, Inc. for Economic Development Services.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm in the Commissioners’ Room, located on the lower level of the Bladen County Courthouse, 106 East Broad Street, Elizabethtown.
