The Bladen County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday and recognized two employees for their retirement.
Recognized were Beverly Spaulding for her retirement effective July 31 and Joan Allen for retirement effective August 31.
Spaulding worked in various capacities at the Department of Social Service with her most recent position having been Income Integrity. She has been employed with DSS since 1988.
Allen has been employed by the county since 1994 and she has most served with the Bladen County Division on Aging.
The board also voted to declare the month of September as Recovery Month. Cheryl Harris accepted the resolution and noted that September is also Suicide Prevention month. Harris works with Eastpointe an agency that manages mental health services for providers in Bladen and surrounding counties.
