The Bladen County Board of Commissioners will hold two meeting Monday. The first meeting at 5:30 p.m. will address tax matters followed by the regular monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Both meetings will take place in the Commissioners Meeting Room in the basement of the Bladen County Courthouse in Elizabethtown.

In the first meeting at 5:30 p.m., the Commissioners will consider tax requests from Edward Lawrence and  Carolyn Wright. The Board will also discuss Hurricane Florence and tax assessments and consider the reappointment of the Bladen County Tax Assessor. That will be followed by a discussion session.

In the regular monthly meeting following the tax meeting, the board will consider approving a consent which includes the proposed agenda, the minutes of the December 17, 2018 regular meeting, budget amendments, County attorney invoices totaling $4.045, set a public Hearing for 6:30 pm on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 regarding incentives for New Generation Yarn Corporation, independent contractor agreement with Axel McPherson Construction, and a resolution appointing review officers Pursuant to NCGS 47-30.2.

The Commissioners will also recognize Mildred Beatty for her retirement.

The board will receive an update from the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office regarding a proposed ordinance for picketing and demonstrations. The board is not expected to take action.

Dean Morris, Director of the Bladen County Soil and Water District, will give an update regarding regarding stream debris removal projects. The Commissioners will be asked to approve several service agreements for debris removal. They are as follows:

* Consider Approving a Service Agreement with Ward Stocks of Stocks Landscaping Regarding a Lower Black River Stream Debris Removal Project

* Consider Approving a Service Agreement with Ward Stocks of Stocks Landscaping Regarding a Cypress Creek Stream Debris Removal Project

* Consider Approving a Service Agreement with Ward Stocks of Stocks Landscaping Regarding a Brown Marsh Swamp Stream Debris Removal Project

* Consider Approving a Service Agreement with D. G. Jackson Construction Regarding an Upper Black River Stream Debris Removal Project

* Consider Approving Change Order #1 to a Service Agreement with D. G. Jackson Construction Regarding a Lower South River Stream Debris Removal Project

* Consider Approving a Service Agreement with D. G. Jackson Construction for a Browns Creek Stream Debris Removal Project

* Consider Approving a Service Agreement with D. G. Jackson Construction for a Carvers Creek Stream Debris Removal Project

* Consider Approving a Service Agreement with D. G. Jackson Construction for a Horse Pen Creek Stream Debris Removal Project

* Consider Approval a Service Agreement with D. G. Jackson Construction Regarding an Upper South River Stream Debris Removal Project

* Consider Approving a Service Agreement with Jerry Hall Regarding an Ellis Creek Stream Debris Removal Project

* Consider Approving a Service Agreement with Jerry Hall Regarding a Harrison Creek Stream Debris Removal Project

The Commissioners will also consider advisory board appointments for the BARTS Advisory Board, Bay Tree Lakes Fire District Board, and the Child Fatality Protection Team.

The Board will be asked to consider adopting a Resolution of Support for naming the NC 87 Bypass the Dallas McQueen Campbell Jr. Highway and to
consider appointing Terri Duncan as the local Health Director pursuant to NCGS 130A-40.

Bladen County Manager Greg Martin will present a calendar update and update on the Beaver Mapping Program meeting.
