Cook Book Club

When it comes to reaching out to the community Bladen County Public Library rises to the occasion like a fine soufflé. Recently, the Library sponsored a membership drive for a new Cook Book Club, and several members came together Tuesday night to taste each other’s dishes. So, what do you think happens when some experienced southern cooks start swapping recipes?

A cookbook filled with the secrets of keeping suppertime as a high point in everyone’s day? These folks know how it’s done. Tuesday was the first meeting of the new club and naturally, everyone put a lot of love into the dishes they brought.

This meeting had a Fall Comfort Food theme. There was Potato Soup with Bacon Bits, Sweet Green Bean Bundles (bacon wrapped green beans), One Layer Apple Cake, Red Velvet Cake, and a Pumpkin Cake Roll. At each meeting of the club there will be a theme and recipes will be collected and added to the cookbook that has been started. When enough recipes have been collected the Cook Book Club Cook Book will be published.

The club was formed through the efforts of Greta Jackson, Brittany Simmons and Kelsey Edwards, and plans to meet at least 4 times per year. Any one who has an interest in sharing recipes and making new friends is welcome to join the club, simply register at the Library. Bon Appetite!!
