Bladen County Health Department released the latest COVID-19 (coronavirus) update this afternoon, announcing the county’s third death related to the coronavirus. The cumulative COVID-19 cases total 341 with 160 active, 178 recovering and, five hospitalized due to the virus.

The three COVID-19 related deaths in Bladen County have been in the age ranges of 50 to over 75 years of age. One person was male and the other two were females, according to North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

Bladen County Health and Human Services Director, Dr. Teresa (Terri) Duncan, stated, “We sadly report the third COVID related death for Bladen County. Comorbidities for COVID related deaths in North Carolina include cardiovascular disease, diabetes, lung disease, and kidney disease.”

Dr. Duncan added, “The number one cause of morbidity for Bladen County is cardiovascular disease.
