The fifteenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on American soil came with honor and remembrance in Bladen County. The annual “Cry Out America” event brought a crowd to the court house lawn in Elizabethtown on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 6 p.m.

Mrs. Pam Ward, coordinator of the yearly event and her team helps to shine the light on our fallen heroes, emergency responders and other church and community leaders during the event, and they unite the community in prayer.

Bladen County Commissioner, Charles Ray Peterson helped unveil the new “In God We Trust” monument to be the cornerstone of the “Fallen Heroes” memorial stone.  The stone featuring the the words “In God We Trust” with the Bladen County seal is now placed in the center of the flags on the courthouse lawn.

There are bricks engraved around the flags at the courthouse donated during a past “Cry Out America” event with the names of the fallen heroes from Bladen County. The engraved emergency responders’ names are: David Tatum, Roy Fores, Jimmy Bell, Elaine Lyda, Roger Stocks, Brian Ramey,John Hall, Jamie Collins, Ron Allen, Claxton Dove, David Hunsinger Jr., Dewayne Hester, and Roy Fores. Another brick is placed in the line of memorial bricks commemorating the emergency responders with the date 9-11.
