The Bladen County Democratic Party has made history by electing Zane Singletary as the youngest Democratic Party Chairman in the State of North Carolina according to the State Party Data Director, Jesse Presnell. Singletary was elected as the Bladen County Democratic Chairman at their annual County Convention on April 18, 2015.

It is not the first time Zane Singletary has set a new record. He was the first, and so far the only student in North Carolina to hold the distinction of being elected to the State wide offices of both the Junior Beta President in 2009, and the Senior Beta President in 2013. Singletary was also the first Bladen County Teen Democrat to be selected to participate in the North Carolina Teen Democrats. Additionally, he was named as the Youth Representative to the Statewide Campaign of Judge Ola Lewis for the N.C. Supreme Court of North Carolina.

“We know he is young, but we believe he is the right man for the job”, stated Dr. Delilah Blanks, a current Bladen County Commissioner and long standing icon of the Bladen County Democratic Party. “I’ve been a member of this party for a good number of years, but it is time to get some younger people and ideas involved’, Blanks further stated at the Convention. Another long standing Bladen County Democrat, Attorney Gary Grady stated, “I think Zane will do a great job. I am so happy to see young men and women taking active and important roles in Party leadership.”

Zane Singletary is the son of Stanton and Cynthia Singletary, and the grandson of Franklin and Jean Adams, all of Bladenboro. He has lived in Bladen County since his birth, and attended the public schools of Bladen County. He graduated from West Bladen High School in 2014 as both the Valedictorian and President of his graduating class.

In addition to his many accolades, Singletary received a Coca Cola Scholars Award, a National Beta Club Scholarship and was the recipient of both the local and Regional Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizenship Award. Singletary is currently in the Pharmacy Scholars Program at Campbell University where he served as President of the Freshman Class for the 2014/15 year, and he has recently been elected as the Sophomore Class President for the upcoming school year.
