The Division On Aging had their first Annual Irish Pub party Monday, March 16th, 2015. Senior Center Director, Amy Ruffin, put together the perfect Irish party for the senior citizens of Bladen County. Party-goers walked in, took a seat as they looked around at the lavishly decorated center. The well known hang-out for seniors had been turned into an Irish paradise.

Ruffin is certified in Laughing Yoga and used her training to make the party even more entertaining. The party began with laughing yoga to relieve a little stress. Irish songs, sung by the young at heart, such as “99 Bottles of beer on the wall” could be heard from afar. The seniors were complimented with peanuts to crack and eat, sandwiches, and green non-alcoholic “beer” (Green Ginger Ale), to top it all off. Before the seniors ate, they decided to say grace a little different by using an Irish blessing.

If you missed this year’s event, mark your calendars for next year. Ruffin says, “This will be an annual event.”
