Dixie Youth Baseball

BLADENBORO – Aiden Russ and Cade Allen combined to pitch a 2-hitter and strike-out 12 batters as the Bladenboro Elite defeated the Bladenboro Reds 7-3 Thursday night in Bladen County Dixie Youth Baseball action.

Russ pitched the first 5 innings and struck out ten batters while allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, a walk and 2 hit batters. Allen worked the final inning on the hill and gave up a run on 2 walks while striking out two.

The Elite scored 3 runs in the first inning. Jonah Bryan reached base on an error, Allen walked, and Will Durden laced a single to rightfield that scored Bryan. Conner Monroe knocked in Allen and Durden with a double.

Luke Pait reached base on an error in the Elite second and scored when Logan Pait raked a single to left. Emmanuel Drew reached base on an error in the third inning and scored on another error for a 5-0 lead.

Weston Hilburn was hit by a pitch in the Reds fourth inning, and Hunter Hester walloped a triple to drive him in. Ryan Dove smacked a single that scored Hester and trimmed the margin to 5-2.

Russ belted a single to right-centerfield, and Bryan walked in the Elite fifth inning. Russ darted home on a wild pitch, and Drew swatted a single to centerfield that scored Bryan for a 7-2 lead.

Jackson Pait walked and scored the final Reds run in the sixth inning.

Monroe doubled and drove in 2 runs to lead the Elite hitters. Teammates Logan Pait, Drew, Richard Severine, Durden and Russ connected for one hit each. Durden, Drew and Logan Pait drove in runs, and Russ, Bryan, Allen, Durden, Luke Pait, Logan Pait and Drew scored runs.

Hester tripled, scored a run and drove in a run to lead the Reds. Dove singled and drove in a run, and Jackson Pait and Hilburn scored runs.

Hilburn started and pitched 1.1 innings for the Reds allowing 4 runs on 3 hits and a walk while striking out three. Hester struck out 13 batters in his 4.2 innings of relief while allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks.
