Today is Municipal Election Day in Bladen County’s towns. Don’t forget to go and cast your ballot. Polls are open until 7:30 p.m. tonight.

In the town of Dublin, Darryl Dowless and Alex Hursey have filed seeking election to the Mayor’s seat.

One seat is available for Dublin Town Commissioner. Incumbent Jeff Smith has filed seeking re-election and he is facing a challenge from Richard Sibbett.

In Bladenboro, incumbent Mayor Rufus Duckworth has filed seeking re-election as Mayor and Kenneth Kelly and Larry Simmons have also filed seeking election to the Mayor’s seat.

There are three seats available for Bladenboro Town Commissioner. Incumbents Billy Ray Benson and Jeff Atkinson have filed for re-election to their seats and they are facing challenges from Rodney Hester and Greg Sykes. The top three candidates will be seated.

In the town of Clarkton, two seats for town commissioner are available. Incumbents Jerome Myers and Tim Tart have filed seeking re-election and they are facing challenges from Stephen Wayne Hester, Linda Gaskins, and Jimmy Hudson. The top two vote getters will be seated on the board.

Two seats are available for East Arcadia Town Commissioner. Incumbents Lillian Graham and Pamela Graham have filed seeking re-election. They are running unopposed.

In the town of Elizabethtown, there are three town council seats available. Incumbents Paula Greene, Rufus Lloyd and Herman Lewis have all filed seeking re-election. They are facing a challenge from Robert “Bobby” Kinlaw. The top three candidates will be seated.

In the town of Tar Heel, incumbent Mayor Roy Dew has filed seeking re-election. There are three town commissioner seats available in Tar Heel as well. Incumbents Sam Allen and Angeline Hall have filed seeking re-election. One town commissioner seat in Tar Heel had no one to file by the deadline.

In the town of White Lake there are three town commissioner seats available.  Incumbents Paul Evans, Mike Suggs and Tim Blount have filed seeking re-election. They are running unopposed.

In addition to electing members to the town boards this year, voters in the town of Dublin will have the opportunity to vote “yes” or “no” to beer and wine.

The resolution submitted to the Bladen County Board of Elections reads:

Malt Beverage Election

To permit the “on-premises” sale only of malt beverages. For or Against

To permit the “off-premises” sale only of malt beverages. For or Against

Unfortified Wine Election

To permit the “on-premises” sale only of unfortified wine. For or Against

To permit the “off-premises” sale only of unfortified wine. For or Against
