Kenneth Clark with the Bladen County Department off Transportation garage, said on Thursday that crews have begun pretreating all bridges in Bladen County with a solution of salt brine.

He added that all major routes in the western and northern portions of the county will also be pre-treated with salt brine.  Clark said DOT crews will begin with NC 87 and work their way to other major routes in the county.

Clark said that about 3:30 a.m. crews will report to work and begin treating bridges with salt, if needed, and dressing any other problem areas that develop.

“As the precipitation changes over to non-freezing rain, we will disband for the day,” said Clark.

He said a skeleton crew will be working overnight Friday into Saturday in the event that snow should develop on Saturday. Clark added should the area get snow on Saturday, DOT trucks are outfitted and ready to go.
