According to a Bladen County School representative the state funding for the Driver’s Education class has not been approved yet. However, when we reached out to Valerie Newton, Public Relations & Information Officer, she said, “It is an action item on tonight’s school board agenda.” There was discussion at the school board meetings in June about the Driver’s Ed classes being offered to Bladen County students for a $65 fee.

According to an article on The News & Observer’s website on June 30th, at least one-third of North Carolina schools are suspending the Driver’s Ed classes this summer until they receive state funds to help pay for the classes they would have to offer.

Parents are concerned about their children being able to take the courses need in order for them to receive their permits and licenses. We asked Newton when the information about the Driver’s Education class being offered will be available Newton, said, “Details will be forthcoming on Tuesday.”
