Blue Pinwheels are being planted as part of the Pinwheels for Prevention campaign to raise awareness of Child Abuse and Prevention.
The Bladen County Department of Social Services is gearing up to call attention to the scourge of child abuse with a a Child Abuse Awareness event on Saturday, April 30, from 1 until 4 p.m. at the Bladen County Courthouse in Elizabethtown. The event will be hosted by the Bladen County DSS Child Welfare Unit.
The event will also include a Child Abuse Awareness Walk which will begin at San Jose Restaurant and end at the Bladen County Courthouse.
There is also a contest to decorate the town and downtown with pinwheel gardens to mark the occasion. To enter the contest, simply take a picture of your pinwheel garden or pinwheel display and email it to the Bladen County Department of Social Services.
There will be free food, bounce houses and other entertainment. Door prizes will be given and there will be bicycle give away.
