Bladen County Emergency Services issued a warning to residents regarding hazardous road conditions caused by ongoing wintry weather. The Department of Transportation (DOT) is actively working to clear major and secondary roads in the area. However, officials emphasize that travel will remain difficult, and they strongly urge residents to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.

According to the advisory, the snow is expected to persist as temperatures are not forecasted to rise above freezing. With wind chill exacerbating the conditions, icy and slick roads will continue to pose significant risks throughout the day and night.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation echoed these concerns, reminding drivers that icy roads do not discriminate based on confidence or experience. They stressed the importance of slowing down or, better yet, avoiding travel altogether during these treacherous conditions.

Bladen County Emergency Services closed their statement with a firm recommendation: “Stay off the roads if possible.” This proactive warning aims to ensure community safety and prevent accidents as the region faces severe winter weather.

Residents are advised to monitor official channels for updates and to remain cautious as crews work diligently to restore safer driving conditions.
