etms-farm-bureauDuring the 2015-16 school year, Mrs. Laura Hall began the vision for a Therapeutic Garden at Elizabethtown Middle School.  Mrs. Hall, a teacher of students with moderate to severe disabilities, is working to create a safe, exploratory space for students that address their individual academic, social, functional and behavioral needs.

On November 8th, the Bladen County Farm Bureau Board members made a donation of $500 to our vision.  Mrs. Hall was able to address the Board Members at their September monthly meeting.  At the conclusion of the event, the community agreed that the students at ETMS are in need of the exposure to horticulture and its many benefits. In addition, the goal to create an aesthetic, enriching environment (that is different than your typical classroom) can be achieved.

The Elizabethtown Middle School team is excited about the generous donation and ready to get to work building a garden space where students with and without disabilities can work side by side to develop life-long skills through horticulture.  T.E.A.M.-Together Everyone Achieves More
