Bladen-County-Road-mapBladen County Commissioners receive a monthly financial update.  The latest report is as of the end of September or the first 3 months (25%) of the fiscal year.
On the revenue side of the report, 44.9% of the Ad Valorem property taxes budgeted have been collected ($9,767,438, compared to $9,183,374 last year).  Local option sales tax are collected by the state and reimbursements run about 3 months late.  Sales tax received for July, August and September are for the last three months of the previous fiscal year.
Total of all revenues for the first three months of the new fiscal year was $14,805,921 or 31.75%, compared with $12,810,835 last year, or about a $2 million increase.  Commissioners raised the property tax rate from 74 cents to 82.  A new detention center added nearly 5 cents to the tax rate and another 2 cents was attributed to EMS expenses.
Expenses for the same three month time frame were 24.77% of the budgeted total or $11,550,268, basically in-line with the budget.
The total of the General Fund is $17,299,236 and the total of all funds is $23,141,669.
