ELIZABETHTOWN – Allison Hickman and Hadley Dove tossed in 6 points each as Bladenboro defeated Tar Heel 21-4 in the opening round of the Bladen County Girls Basketball Tournament Tuesday at Samuel C. Boger Gymnasium.

Harley Jordan bombed in a 3-point shot and another basket as the Lady Bulldogs raced to an early 9-0 lead. Jordan finished with 5 points. Hickman threw in 2 baskets in the 1st quarter. Dove fired in 2 baskets in the 2nd period, and teammate Venias Garcia added a basket as the lead grew to 15-0.

Hickman popped in a 3rd quarter basket for Bladenboro, and Dove and Maleigh Chatman pumped in baskets in the final period. ZaAsia Lewis and Abigail Dew scored 2nd half baskets for Tar Heel.

Coach Otis Evans’ Lady Bulldogs improved to 2-0 and will play Elizabethtown Thursday at 4 p.m. in the tournament championship game. Tar Heel, now 0-2, will host West Columbus on January 26th in their next game.
