Sadie Minter retired from the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office. Ms. Minter was the first lady officer in the department.
Brian Watts won the Elizabethtown Optimist Club Essay Contest.
Pam Hammonds of Elizabethtown led the UNC Lady Tar Heels as they won the ACC basketball tourney with a 99-76 victory over the North Carolina State Wolfpack. Hammonds scored 26 points and was named to the All Tournament team.
