The 1985 North Carolina Tobacco Festival in Clarkton was termed “A great success, the best ever.” by Mayor Dan Meshaw.
Some of the events were, the golf tournament won by Pam and Bobby Davis, Miss North Carolina Tobacco Festival Sonya Enzor of Fair Bluff was selected, Little Miss North Carolina Tobacco Festival Mariena Hood of Bladenboro was also selected.
The parade consisted of 90 units and a big dance featuring The Wingtips was also held.
The crowds were great and the volunteer participation was tremendous. The chairman of the event was Marvin Burney of Clarkton.
