The Elizabethtown Jaycees were planning to have their Distinguished Service Award Banquet at Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church near Elizabethtown.
Mary Blanche Jessup of Elizabethtown was appointed to the Teacher Education Advisory Committee of the North Carolina Board of Education. This appointment was made by State Superintendent Dr. Craig Phillips.
Phyllis McKeithan was named Town Clerk for the Town of White Lake.
Jerry Register was named the first Town Manager by the White Lake Board of Commissioners.
Bladen Journal Editor Dennis Patterson was scheduled to meet with President Jimmy Carter. Patterson was among 30 editors and broadcasters who were invited to the President’s briefing.
