The Elizabethtown Town Board announced that James W. Freeman of Valdese would be the new Town Administrator.
Three inches of snow fell in Bladen County.
It was announced that 52% of all deaths recorded in Bladen County came from the result of heart disease.
A North Carolina education survey announced that Bladen County would be better served with two high schools in Bladen County. Elizabethtown High School and Clarkton High School would form one school while Bladenboro High School and Tar Heel High School would form the other.
Sylvia Campbell of Elizabethtown was named head of the Bladen County Heart Fund Campaign.
