The Clarkton Tobacco Market opens with 5.9 million pounds of tobacco designated for the market.
New tax rates were announced. Bladen County 90 cents, Elizabethtown 77 cents, Bladenboro 72 cents, Clarkton 62 cents, White Lake 80 cents, Dublin 69 cents, Bladenboro Fire District 30 cents.
The Bellamy Scholarships were presented to Barbara Ann Baldwin, Ivy Mae Lewis and Roger Pait.
Town budgets were announced….White Lake $263,200, Clarkton $276,240, Bladenboro $590,345, Dublin $128,273.
