James R. Powell was named Man Of The Year by the Elizabethtown-White Lake Chamber of Commerce.
Bobby Guyton, Vice-Chairman of the 1971 N. C. Blueberry Festival, announced that the event would be held May 20-23 at White Lake. Guyton announced that the committee is looking for 300 volunteers to assist the festival committee.
Fire destroyed two cottages and three rooms of an adjoining motel at White Lake.
