• Ben W. Green of Elizabethtown won the 41st Annual National Soaring Championship by scoring 6,554 points of a possible 7,000 in the 12 day competition.
• Elizabethtown Kiwanis Citizen of the Month was Robert H. Austin.
• Elizabethtown Rescue Squad donated a 1960 ambulance to the newly organized Kelly Rescue Squad.
