• Champion peanut growers were announced in Bladen County. First Place, Wade and Everett Byrd, Second Place, Willie and Billy Storms, Third Place Wilbur Ward. A special award was presented to John Parks who grew 5,573.3 pounds on 1.27 acres.
• A Irving Maynard was named Assistant Superintendent for Bladen County schools.
• Ten candidates filed for two vacant seats on the Bladen County Board of Commissioners.
