*Bladen County was in the middle of an election year which found our county casting votes for the following:
President: Richard Nixon 4,197
N.C. Governor: Skipper Bowles 4,228
N.C. Lt. Governor: Jim Hunt 4,398
U.S. Senate :Jesse Helms 3,300
Jim Holshouser was elected Governor, although he only received 2,159 votes in Bladen County. Nixon, Hunt and Helms were elected to office.
