• Two newly elected County Commissioners were sworn in. They were C. Edgar Stevens, Jr. and Robert G.(Bobby) Roberts. Ballard E. Carroll, 16 year veteran of the board was elected Chairman.
• Two new members of the Bladen Board of Education,, J. Martin Wilson and C.O Bridger, were also sworn in.
• Major Clarence King, Chief Deputy of the Bladen County Sheriff’s office retired after serving for 30 years.
