Elizabethtown, NC – The County of Bladen and Bladen County Health Department is pleased to announce that it has received a grant in the amount of $157,520 to provide funding to complete an Opioid Task Force Strategic Plan from the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The strategic plan will provide efficient direction for opioid
treatment and education.

Bladen County Board of Commissioners Chairman Charles R. Peterson, who also serves as chairman of the Bladen County Opioid Task Force, stated that “the grant award to fund a strategic plan will create a more efficient process, which will provide other opportunities for those affected by the opioid crisis.

The Bladen County Opioid Task Force, established in the fall of 2017, is made up of commissioners, other elected officials, healthcare and mental health providers, clergy, and community leaders. The Task Force has met consistently since that time and progress has been realized. A local Christian-based substance abuse facility, Southeastern Carolina Crossroads, has benefited from the Task Force efforts.
