Yesterday, on October 10th, 2024, the Bladen County Health and Human Services Agency gathered with the community for a powerful and vibrant Breast Cancer Awareness Walk in Elizabethtown, NC. Participants met at the Division of Social Services at 208 McKay Street and embarked on a walk around the Health and Human Services Agency departments to raise awareness about breast cancer.
The event brought together residents, health professionals, and local advocates, all dressed in various shades of pink to show their solidarity in the fight against breast cancer. Attendees proudly displayed signs and banners, highlighting the critical fact that 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, underscoring the importance of early detection and ongoing research.
Participants included a diverse group of community members, with many expressing their gratitude for events like this that bring attention to such a significant health issue. The event not only aimed to spread awareness but also fostered a spirit of unity and support for individuals and families affected by breast cancer.
This walk was a reminder of the importance of community involvement in raising awareness and supporting research efforts that bring hope to those battling breast cancer. The Health and Human Services Agency and all participants are committed to continuing the fight against this disease.
