BLADENBORO – Righthander Kaleb Gaddy struck out the side in the final inning to preserve an 11-7 victory for Tar Heel over the Bladenboro Yankees Tuesday night in Bladen County Dixie Youth Baseball minor league action.
Hannah Rice pitched the first three innings and struck out six batters to pick up the victory for Tar Heel. Justin Spaulding, Tiffany Page, Colin Sykes and Jonah Bryan shared the pitching duties for the Yankees.
Clayton Moore cracked a single, and Ryan Hendern walked and both of them scored runs in the top of the first inning for Tar Heel.
The Yankees rallied for 3 runs in the home first. Sykes, Jonah Bryan and Spaulding drew walks and all of them scored to put the home team ahead 3-2.
Tar Heel moved in front with 5 runs in the second inning. Abby Mohr, Dylan Taylor, J. B. Robinson, Kaleb Gaddy and Aiden Davis all drew walks and all of them scored. Hendern knocked in the final run of the inning with a single that put Tar Heel ahead 7-3.
The Yankees rallied with 2 runs in the home second. Omarian Brown and Jonah Bryan belted singles and scored runs to trim the Tar Heel lead to 7-5.
Caiden Moore ripped a triple to left-centerfield to start the visitors’ third inning and later scored to boost the Tar Heel lead to 8-5.
Josh Martin started a Yankee rally in the third inning with a single, and Brayden Bryan walked. Both of them scored to trim the Tar Heel lead to 8-7.
Davis, Clayton Moore, Herndon and Caison Briskey all drew walks in the Tar Heel fourth. Davis was forced home on Briskey’s walk and a throwing error plated Clayton Moore and Herndon to pad the lead to 11-7.
