On Wednesday, September 25, 2019, the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit
began conducting saturation patrols in narcotic complaint areas in the East Arcadia and
Kelly areas of Bladen County where a motor-vehicle stop and foot-chase resulted in the
seizure of Marijuana and US Currency.

Narcotic Agents attempted to stop a Nissan pickup truck for multiple traffic violations
when the driver jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot through a wooded area and
residential property located on Cane Tuck road near NC Highway 11 in the Kelly area.
The driver, identified as Anthony Brown, 36 of Riegelwood was arrested and charged
with numerous violations. During the foot-chase the defendant threw a large plastic bag
of marijuana at narcotics agents.

A search of the Nissan truck and the defendant resulted in the seizure of 100.5 grams of
marijuana and $684.00 in U. S. Currency.

Brown was charged with (1) count of Felony Possession of Marijuana, (1) count of
Maintaining a Vehicle for the Purpose of Keeping/Selling Controlled Substances, (1)
count of Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Deliver Marijuana, (1) count of
Manufacture Marijuana, (1) count of Resisting a Public Officer, (1) count of Failure to
Wear Seat Belt, (1) count of Driving with no Registration Plate, (1) count of Failure to
Apply for New Title, (1) count of Fail to Maintain Lane Control, (1) count Fail to Heed
Blue Light and Siren.

Brown was placed in the Bladen County Detention Center under a $30,000.00 secured
bond.

“It takes a strong partnership between our citizens and the Bladen County Sheriff’s
Office to fight the drug problem which has such a negative impact in our communities,” said Sheriff Jim McVicker.
