Dr. Robert L. Summerlin passed away yesterday, May 22nd, according to Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home, arrangements are incomplete at this time. Born in September of 1928, Dr. Summerlin, was a blessing to Bladen County.  

Recently, Dr. Summerlin was honored at the Cape Fear Valley Ground Breaking Ceremony, where he was in attendance. Dr. Summerlin was presented with a plaque for the legacy he had built in Bladen County. At the event, Pastor Cameron McGill of Dublin First Baptist Church, helped honor Dr. Summerlin.  McGill said, “He could have gone many places, but chose to invest his life here in this community.  We are grateful for Dr. Summerlin and look forward to seeing his name honored.”

Today, our community is in mourning of the loss of a great hero, doctor, friend, and loved one. More details may be found on Bladen-Gaskins’ website.
