Bladen County resident Alyssa Bell is climbing her way to the mountain of success. Earlier this year, on the 14th of January, Bell blessed us with her single “Bad Nostalgia.” The song tells the story of how a certain place could remind you of something or, usually, somebody. Bell says, “Sometimes the memories are good, and sometimes they’re bad, and in this case, the song is kind of like the bad memories.”

Bell started writing “Bad Nostalgia” in October of 2021, but she is a perfectionist who takes pride in her work and wants everything to be great. That is why she takes her time on projects like this. She has more music in the works that she plans to release shortly, so you will have to keep an eye out and an ear opens for her remarkable voice. Bell vocalized that for her, it is not about the number of people that come across her music, she wants the right people to come across it. She included, “It’s not about the numbers. It’s about the people that need to see it. People that it could impact, that’s who needs to see it.”

Besides being a fantastic vocalist, she is self-taught at the piano and guitar. She had guitar lessons when she was younger, but since then, she has not played until the Coronavirus (Covid-19) came around and made us all stay in. Bell told us here at Bladen Online that because of the Covid-19 shutdown, she started to learn how to play piano, guitar and write music, and since then, she has been building off of her foundations.

Bell has goals to get her music on a Spotify Playlist, release an album and a music video. Bell says that her biggest musical inspirations are artists like Gracie Abrams, Phoebe Bridgers, and Taylor Swift.
