Primary Routes:

US and NC routes are clear with possible icy spots remaining on the far eastern ends of NC 53 E and NC 210 E.

Secondary Routes:

Any remaining icy spots on secondary routes were treated today.  For most of the county, the threat of refreezing has been eliminated; however, secondary roads in the far eastern portion of the county (Kelly / Rowan / Canetuck areas) still have partial snow and ice coverage.  Meanwhile there could also be isolated spots in the Carvers Creek / East Arcadia area that, while melted and drying today, could refreeze tonight.   Although all wet spots have been treated today, the forecast record lows overnight will dip below the effectiveness of the road salt; therefore, refreezing is possible where any wet spots remain.

For tonight, we will have one crew in so please contact the office number (862-3396) with any emergencies.  Tomorrow we plan to send two trucks back to the Kelly / Rowan area to follow up with what should be final retreatment while the rest of our trucks will be going to Robeson County to assist with efforts over there.

ELWELL FERRY:

Unless something goes wrong, we plan to resume operation of the Elwell Ferry tomorrow.
