Bladen County officials announced Tuesday afternoon that its Emergency Operations Center will activate Wednesday at 6 p.m. in anticipation of impacts from Tropical Storm Debby.

Three shelters will open at 6 p.m. at the following locations:

• West Bladen High School, 1600 NC 410, Bladenboro. This is the only designated shelter for residents evacuating with pets.

• East Arcadia Primary School, 21451 NC 87, East Arcadia.

• Centerville Baptist Church, 18577, NC 53, Kelly.

Back-up preparations should be made for any oxygen concentrators or medical devices dependent on power for a minimum of 48 hours in case of a power outage, Bladen County Emergency Services said.

Residents should NOT call 9-1-1 to report power outages. Power outages should be reported to the appropriate power company:

• Duke Power, 800-419-6356 or text OUT to 57801

• Four County EMC, 888-368-7289 or text OUTAGE to 888-368-7289

• South River EMC, 800-338-5530 or text #out to 888-338-5530

• Brunswick EMC, 800-682-5309

According to the National Weather Service, impacts in Bladen County from Debby will occur Wednesday and through the weekend. The forecast calls for 10 to 15 inches of rain from the storm.
