According to estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau, Bladen County, between July 2010 and July 2017, lost a total of 1,716 citizens, or 4.88% of it’s population.

On July 1, 2010 Bladen had a population of 35,194. On July 1, 2017 Bladen had 33,478 citizens.

Other southeastern North Carolina counties fared much better. Cumberland county gained 1.63%, Robeson lost 1.41%, Sampson lost 0.16%, Hoke gained 13.94%.

The state of North Carolina, overall, gained 699,172, a percentage gain of 7.30%.
