Bladen-County-Relay-for-lifeThe Annual Relay for Life of Bladen County is was set to begin this Friday, May 8th at Elizabethtown Middle School Field. Due to expected inclement weather it has been postponed. The new date is tentatively set for Saturday, May 30th from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

There will be a large variety of foods available; along with face painting, live music, bounce house fun and more,  to help in the fundraising and celebration. There are 34 teams and 351 participants registered for this year’s event according to the Relay For Life website.

Anyone who has heard the words, “You have cancer” will be honored this weekend along with their caregivers. There will be a Survivor’s lap to celebrate survivors’ victory over cancer. Caregivers will also participate in a lap so they may be honored for their support in the fight against cancer.  At 9pm there will be a Luminaria Ceremony to remember people who have fought the good fight against cancer.

Relay for Life is the world’s largest fundraiser in the fight against cancer. It unites communities throughout the world. This is Bladen County’s opportunity to show support in the battle to end cancer. The top participants so far for 2015 Relay For Life of Bladen County are Teri Beard, Helen Proctor, and Tara Parker and the top teams are Smithfield Packing, Potty Patrol and Team Royalty/Chelle’s Belles according to the event’s website.

Our community’s Relay For Life will begin at 11 am on Saturday, May 30th and end at 11 pm. Show your support to end cancer and attend this fundraiser and celebration.
