One Bladen County resident has been made into a work of art. Clarkton resident LoWanda Davis’s image was discovered on Facebook by Clarence “The Pencilman” Pointer, a famous artist from California.
The well respected artist, known as The Pencilman, saw a photo of Davis on Facebook. After viewing the photo, he contacted Davis and asked if he could draw her likeness. Davis was excited and honored by the request.
Pointer said, “I chose her picture because I was merely looking for another signature piece to add to my portfolio. It [the picture of Davis] simply captured me and drew me to it.” Pointer’s final creation of Davis is called, “Praying Mother II”.
Davis, a talented Bladen County playwright, has been scouting out talent for her production company, LoWanda Davis Productions, LLC for her upcoming plays and films to help make the change she wants to see in the world. However, the tables were turned recently on Davis when she learned that she was the one being scouted.
