state-fair-logoThe North Carolina State Fair is under way in Raleigh and Bladen County is well represented. Many Bladen residents and businesses are picking up awards for their hard work. Bladen County residents who have received honors at the State Fair through the completion of judging of competitions on Wednesday, October 19, include:

*Jacob R. Barber of Clarkton who earned first place in the Arts & Photography category for individual student grade 9-12.

*Nicholas Norris of Bladenboro who earned second place in the Essay competition for 6 through 8 grades.

*Sean Nunnery of Bladenboro who earned first place in Youth Market Turkeys/Market Turkey purchase/purchase price and seventh place for Youth Market Turkeys/Senior/Group S11.

*LuMil Vineyard in Dublin earned five B placements for their Red Muscadine Sweet and White Muscadine dry and White Muscadine sweet wines.

*Hannah P. Wheeless of Garland earned a first place in Handicrafts and Hobbies for adolescent Ages 10-14 DC: Holiday Decorations; fifth place in Cards Holidays/Occassions, DC: Creations:Cultural Crafts; first place in Handicrafts and Hobbies for adolescent ages 10-14 in Decorative Creations: Cultural Crafts; second place in Handicrafts and Hobbies for adolescent ages 10-14 in Decorative Creations: Nature Crafts; first place in Handicrafts and Hobbies for adolescent ages 10-14 in Decorative Painting on China original work; second place in Handicrafts and Hobbies for adolescent ages 10-14 in Decorative Creation: Recycle; first place in Handicrafts and Hobbies for adolescent ages 10-14 in Decorative Creation: Wreaths; fifth place in Handicrafts and Hobbies for adolescent ages 10-14 in Decorative Painting original; and an honorable mention in Handicrafts and Hobbies for adolescent ages 10-14 in Handcrafted Eggshell: whole.

*Taylor Wheeless of Garland earned second place in Handicrafts and Hobbies for children ages 9 and under Cards Holiday/Occasions; first place in Handicrafts and Hobbies for children ages 9 and under DC: Christmas Decorations; third place in Handicrafts and Hobbies for children ages 9 and under  in decorative creations: Nature Craft; first place in Handicrafts and Hobbies for children ages 9 and under in decorative painting on China original work; third place in Handicrafts and Hobbies for children ages 9 and under  in decorative creations: miscellaneous; second place in Handicrafts and Hobbies for children ages 9 and under  in decorative creations: wreaths; fifth place in Handicrafts and Hobbies for children ages 9 and under  in decorative painting original; second place in Handicrafts and Hobbies for children ages 9 and under  in Egg Shell whole; and third place in Handicrafts and Hobbies for children ages 9 and under in Jewelry: Mixed Media.

Bladen Online will announce other winners as they are announced by NC State Fair officials.
