NC 87 at Hammond Creek Bridge
NC 87 will re-open to traffic mid-morning on Monday. The bridge work is not complete; however, it is far enough along that the bridge can be traversed sans final pavement layers and striping. The contractor will complete the remaining work under flagging operations.
NC 211 at Brown Marsh Bridges
As soon as NC 87 opens on Monday morning, NC 211 will be closing to perform a similar bridge rehab project on the Brown Marsh Swamp bridges. The road will be closed for several weeks. A signed detour route will be in effect to use SR 1710 (Elkton Road) / SR 1760 (Burney Ford Road) / US 701-Business (College Street) in Clarkton.
NC 131/242/410 (Main Street) in Bladenboro
Work has progressed well on the Main Street reconstruction in Bladenboro. However, the road will remain closed into the week of the 27th as there remain significant pavement drop offs that prevent side street access. A signed detour will remain in effect to use SR 1170 (Old Abbotsburg Road) / SR 1171 (Grimsley Farm Road) / NC 211 Bypass
NC 53 East – Kelly Area
Work will continue next week replacing crosslines on NC 53 near Kelly. However, due to weight posted roads, there is no suitable detours so the work will be performed under flagging operations.
Elwell Ferry
River levels are good and are not expected to rise – the ferry is operating.
