An update of road openings / closings is as follows:
OPENINGS:
US 701 / NC 87 Interchange
The US 701 / NC 87 interchange is now open. Do NOT use old US 701 except for local access to businesses / residences.
UPCOMING OPENINGS:
SR 1145 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.)
SR 1145 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. in Elizabethtown) will open by Friday. While it looks complete, the newly placed pavement is extremely hot and will require 24 hours to cool due to its thickness.
CLOSINGS:
SR 1709 (Coley Road)
SR 1709 (Coley Road) is closed in order to replace the bridge over Hammonds Creek. The bridge replacement project will take until late November / early December. A signed detour will be in effect to use SR 1704 (Airport Road) / SR 1713 (White Plains Church Road) / SR 1719 (Vause Road) / SR 1708 (Rosindale Road)
UPCOMING CLOSINGS:
SR 1212 (Richardson Street)
Beginning Monday, November 27, we plan to close SR 1212 (Richardson Street) in Elizabethtown between SR 1145 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.) and Hill Street in order to replace crosslines. The road will remain closed through the end of next week. Use NC 87 and SR 1150 (Peanut Road) for access around the work area.
SR 1514 (Mote Road)
Beginning Monday, November 27, we plan to close SR 1514 (Mote Road) at a location 2.41 miles north of NC 41 in order to begin replacement of the second of 5 crosslines on the road.
ELWELL FERRY:
The Elwell Ferry is operating.
