Chief Petty Officer Johnny Anderson from Bladen CountyBladen County’s own, Chief Petty Officer Johnny Anderson is pictured in the far right of this photo with his fellow service men.

We would like to salute Anderson for his many years of service to our country.

Anderson enlisted in the Navy back in 1976. His last Primary Designator/NEC was DC-4811-Senior Enlisted Damage Control Program Management and Training Specialist. He also served as a Hull Maintenance Welder, Instructor, Shipboard Chemical, Biological & Radiological Operator and Trainer Specialist, and a Damage Controlman.

Some of Anderson’s duty stations were the USS Independence, NAS Memphis, USS William V. Pratt, USS Holland, USS Paiute, and USS America.

His Combat and Operations History was Multinational Force in Lebanon from 1984-1986, UN Operations in Somalia for Operation Restore Hope from 1992-1993, Operation Deny Flight in 1992 until 1995, and Southwest Asia Ceasefire Campaign from 1992 until 2003.

Anderson received many award: Surface Warfare Badge, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy E Ribbon, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Navy Sea Service Deployment, and Kuwait Liberation Medal.

Anderson retired from the Navy and is currently a Bladenboro resident serving his community in many ways.  Thank you Chief Petty Officer Anderson for your service and sacrifice to our country.
