Staff report
Bladen County Schools have announced that all schools will switch to asynchronous remote learning on Thursday, January 23, because of dangerous road conditions. This decision was made to prioritize the safety of students and staff.
Asynchronous learning means that students will work on assignments that teachers have already posted in Canvas or sent home earlier. Parents are encouraged to stay in touch with their child’s teachers through the Remind app for updates or questions.
In addition to remote learning, all school buildings and district offices will be closed. Any events or activities planned for the day are also canceled. A final decision about whether schools will open on Friday, January 24, will be announced by 8 p.m. on Thursday evening.
Bladen County rarely sees snow, but with this weather, families are encouraged to stay safe and enjoy the day indoors. The district thanked parents and students for their understanding as they focus on keeping everyone safe. Families should keep an eye on communication channels for more updates.
Stay warm and stay safe, Bladen County!
