On Thursday afternoon, Valerie Newton, Public Relations & Information Officer with Bladen County Schools gave an updated announcement regarding changes to the schools’ scheduled due to forecasted inclement weather. The report stated the schedules for Thursday and Friday of this week have been adjusted.
Based on current weather patterns showing the possibility of an inch of snow falling late in the afternoon on Thursday Bladen County Schools will have a one-hour early release for all schools on Thursday. This will allow time for buses to safely transport students home before the weather conditions deteriorate, according to Newton.
“We expect that road conditions will be impacted overnight Thursday and early Friday morning.”
Newton announced the two-hour delay on Friday morning for students and staff has changed. All Bladen County Schools will be closed on Friday due to the forecasted weather. Due to the closing, Bladen County Schools will now be open for regular schedule on March 13, 2020.
She added, “Should conditions become worse than expected we will provide additional updates through the all-call phone system, local news media, and social media channels.”
