Due to the damage sustained during Hurricane Florence schools in Bladen County remain closed. Bladen County Schools will be closed beginning Monday, September 17 until further notice according to Valerie Newton with Bladen County Schools. She said, “We will reassess the status of our buildings by Friday, September 21 to make a determination as to when schools can reopen.”

She ended by stating, “At this time, we do not anticipate opening schools before September 26.”

Emereau: Bladen announced they would be closed until further notice as well. The public charter school published the statement, “Our hearts go out to all those in our community that have been affected by Hurricane Florence. Bladen and the surrounding counties have been deeply impacted. Many roads are impassable due to the flooding.”

The statement by Carla Fisher, School Director continued, “With safety at the forefront of our minds, we will be watching conditions closely. While doing so, I feel the best decision for our Emereau family and community is to be closed until further notice. We will reassess as conditions improve and make a determination as to when school will reopen.”
